According to a source close to SuperSport, the club will step up their interest in the 28-year-old former Moroka Swallows man after the Nedbank Cup final next month.
Bereng has scored once in 13 league outings since reuniting with Dan Malesela at Chippa on a three-year deal at the beginning of the season from Cape Town All Stars.
"Tshwarelo Bereng will be a new SuperSport United player next season," the source tells KickOff.com.
"But both parties still have to agree on the fee because Bereng still has two more seasons left with the club.
"They have agreed with his agent and it is not clear if they have agreed with Chippa but the ball is in SuperSport's court. I believe talks will start after the Nedbank Cup final."
Matsatsantsa will defend their Nedbank Cup crown against Orlando Pirates on June 24 after edging Chippa 4-2 on penalties in the semi-finals at Sisa Dukashe Stadium on Saturday.
