Information reaching this website is that Sundowns have activated the second one-year option on Castro’s deal that he signed upon joining the club at the start of the 2015-16 season.
What has been confirmed is that back then Castro signed a one-year deal with a two-year option broken into two.
The first one-year option was taken up midway through last year which meant he stayed on for this season.
As of now it is the second and last option that has been exercised.
The Brazilians have also already communicated their commitment to take up this latest option which will keep Castro at Chloorkop until June 2018 by which time his contract will be up with no further option.
Castro, who turns 28 next week, scored 14 goals in his first season for Sundowns but hasn’t reached those heights this term after being disturbed by injuries.
He has started just a single league match this year with his only goal having come in the Nedbank Cup against Mariveni United.
