The 33-year-old, who last season helped Stellenbosch FC reach the PSL promotion playoffs under Sammy Troughton and Steve Barker, arrived in the country yesterday.
The towering Senegalese forward returned to the country from his third stint with Norwegian second division side Kongsvinger IL.
''Mame Niang is here and he'll start now with the club,'' a source tells KickOff.com.
Niang, who has played for Moroka Swallows, SuperSport United twice, University of Pretoria and Sundowns in the topflight, claimed the PSL top scorer award in 2005/06 with the Dube Birds when he netted 14 goals.
Eagles are currently in 14th spot on the First Division table with 16 points from 17 games. They’ve registered just three victories.
Should he get his work permit on time, Niang is likely to be in the team when Eagles host 12th-placed Richards Bay FC on Saturday at Harry Gwala Stadium.
