"I wish the club all the best in their challenge for a top-eight finish," said De Sa.

Club chairman Farook Kadodia wished De Sa well and confirmed assistant coach Fadlu Davids will oversee the team until the end of the season.

"The coach informed me that he had to go back to Cape Town to attend to family commitments, and I had to respect that," said Kadodia.

"He was with us for only three months, but I thank him for the time he spent here and I wish him well for the future. Fadlu will take over the reins supported by the existing technical team until the end of the season."

De Sa leaves the Team of Choice with a record of one win, one draw and five losses in all competitions, with the club currently 10th on the Absa Premiership table with nine matches remaining.

The ex-Ajax Cape Town boss initially took over the Maritzburg reins from caretaker coach Davids in January on a six-month contract with a two-year option to renew. He officially succeeded Ernst Middendorp, who quit in November last year.
