De Sa was speaking after his side’s 3-1 loss to Ajax Cape Town on Friday night, in what was Zulu’s last game for the relegation-threatened club.
“There are two players that will be sold on Monday: Zulu and [Katlego] Otladisa,” De Sa said. “Otladisa has a broken leg, and will only start playing again in about three months’ time, so he’s likely to stay with us another season, and Zulu will join Sundowns, probably next week – and rightly so.
“He’s got five months to go [on his contract], he’s given his everything and been fantastic … so for his good service, we take our hats off, say all the best and hopefully he becomes successful – that’s the way it should be.”
Zulu, 24, has started all 17 league games for his club this season, having featured 66 times across all competitions for the Rustenburg-based club over the past three seasons.
The talented left-back has been a standout player despite Stars’ struggles, and although disappointed at losing one of their strongest players, De Sa feels his move to Tshwane is a just reward for his efforts.
“How do you stop players from bettering their lifestyles and furthering their careers? There’s a human side of the game you’ve got to keep – it’s only right,” said De Sa.
