Maritzburg snap up ex-Chippa midfielder

Timm returned from a spell in the United States with Phoenix Rising last year before joining Chippa, along with Thato Mokeke under Eric Tinkler, in October last year.

However, Tinkler's departure saw the 26-year-old deemed surplus to requirements by then-replacement coach Joel Masutha and was subsequently released in December, having made just three appearances.

The former Amajita pivot has since been snapped up by the Team of Choice, who are desperate to pry their way off the foot of the Absa Premiership table with just 12 games remaining.

Muhsin Ertugral previously missed out on a chance to work with Timm, who departed Mpumalanga Black Aces prior to his arrival that sparked a sensational revival as the club ended up in fourth position in 2015/16 before later being sold and renamed Cape Town City.

Maritzburg have struggled particularly in central midfield this season, with former Kaizer Chiefs man Keagan Buchanan having been ruled out with a long-term knee injury shortly after his arrival.

Timm is likely to slot into a defensive midfield role in order to offer more stability in the middle of the park.
