Allie linked up with the Team of Choice following the expiry of his contract at The Clever Boys last month, and has since earned himself a two-year deal.
The 33-year-old managed to impress coach Fadlu Davids during an assessment, and becomes the club's fifth signing ahead of the 2018/19 campaign. The other recruits are: Keagan Buchanan, Denwin Farmer, Sizwe Muthwa and Tholang Masegela.
Allie helped Wits to MTN8 and Telkom Knockout glory, as well as a historic maiden Absa Premiership title during his three years in Milpark, but endured a turbulent final season hampered by injury as he made just 15 appearances.
The former Ajax Cape Town defender, who can play as both a centre-back and right-back, effectively comes in as a replacement for Bevan Fransman, who has joined Absa Premiership returnees Highlands Park.
Maritzburg are also believed to still be assessing former Ajax winger Justin Jacobus and Swaziland international Justice Figuareido.
