Free State Stars had fading hopes of bringing Ngobeni back to the club after he impressed on previous loan spells.

However, Ngobeni is staying put despite the Brazilians' recent signing of Reyaad Pieterse as a replacement for departed keeper Brimah Razak.

'Jingles' also has first-choice gloveman Denis Onyango and Zambian shot-stopper Kennedy Mweene at his disposal.

"Razak has gone," Mosimane said.

"We have registered Thela Ngobeni for the Champions League.

"It is important for the club to have three goalkeepers registered for the Champions League."

Unlike Andile Jali and Jose Ali Meza, fellow recruits Pieterse and Lyle Lakay have not been registered for the continental competition as they are cup-tied.

"Lakay is not registered because he is cup-tied. He played for Cape Town City against the Mozambican team," Mosimane added.
