Amakhosi announced the acquisition of Castro midway through December after reaching an agreement with Mamelodi Sundowns for the early release of the striker, whose contract at Chloorkop was set to run out at the end of June this year.
However, according to daily sport newspaper L’Equipe, Amiens, for whom Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu currently plies his trade, are soon set to welcome the 28-year-old frontman to their camp.
“Amiens will record the arrival of two offensive elements [players] to mitigate the probable departure of Lacina Traore. and amongst them should be Colombian striker Leonardo Castro (28) who is evolving in South Africa (Mamelodi Sundowns),” read a report in the French paper on New Year’s Day.
KickOff.com tried to reach both Chiefs and Sundowns representatives but neither were available for comment.
