Papic: What in life isn't a challenge?

Transfer News

Papic recently returned to the National First Division strugglers following the sacking of former Orlando Pirates MultiChoice Diski Challenge coach Zipho Dlangalala.

Eagles are third-from-bottom on the table with 12 points from 14 games as they ride a seven-match winless run in the league.

However, Papic's charges can draw encouragement from their shock 3-0 defeat of promotion contenders University of Pretoria on Wednesday in a qualifier for the last-32 of the Nedbank Cup.

Papic said: "Of course it is a challenge but what is in life is not a challenge? When you wake up in the morning you are challenging the day and same thing with football. Every thing is a challenge, every club is a challenge, every player is a challenge.

"At the end of the day you are professional. You try your best to do exactly what they need. Today's performance was very good and to be honest with you our opponent only created two chances to score a goal today and we have a lot of chances. I hope we are going to repeat that performance on Saturday [against Ubuntu Cape Town in the league at home] and we are going to continue like that.

"In football you never know. As much as you can do everything in the last minute the opposition can score a goal and they win the match and that is that... Football is like that.

"But we'll try our best to win the matches and move a little bit up."

He went on to explain why he has roped in Heric, who parted ways with Cape Town All Stars last month.

"Why not? We have worked before and we are working together now. I think that it is a very good combination.

"If anything happens one of us is always going to be there. We are working on the same level and that is not a problem. He's my assistant coach a long time ago and I'm pushing him to be a head coach, he's very successful," he added of the Bay United coach.

"I called him back because we need something to enhance these players, to make them play better football as much as they can. I called him and he said okay and we are together now."
