Manyama excited and nervous

Manyama was yesterday officially unveiled at his new club, after completing a deadline day move from Cape Town City to Turkish Super Lig side Konyaspor last week.

The 26-year-old was on international duty when the deal was signed, and was welcomed with the number 10 shirt in Konya on Thursday morning.

"I'm excited and nervous at the same time, but I'm just looking forward to enjoying every moment of this new chapter and, of course, to see how far I can push myself," Manyama tells

The Anatolian Eagle, as the club is commonly referred to, qualified for the Europa League group stages after winning the Turkish Cup last season, joining last season’s Super Lig runners-up Istanbul Basaksehir FK.

The Alexandra-born attacker also posted a touching tribute to his former club and supporters on his Instagram, before also thanking John Comitis for his contribution to his career.

“The past year has been nothing but the best my brothers. I was honoured to be your captain and thank you for also making me not only a better player but also a better person. I wish you guys nothing but the best, I will be following y'all all the time … It’s never goodbyes homies, I will see y’all later. And a special thank you to @capetowncityfc @city_slickerssfg @ctcfc_citizens,” he first posted.

His second post read: “To the big boss [Comitis], you gave me my first PSL contract, you were part of my first move to one of the big teams in Gauteng, you took me and made me your first ever captain for Cape Town City, and we went on to win our first cup in our first ever season in the PSL. Now you have allowed me the chance to go and grow in Europe, and words can never be enough to show the gratitude I have for all you have done in my career. Thank you very much big boss. May the good Lord grant you all the strength you need to fulfill all the you have for yourself, your family and Cape Town City.”
