The former Orlando Pirates coach has inherited a squad of only 14 players after club boss John Comitis bought the PSL status of Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Tinkler acknowledges that while it is important that the core of the team has been kept, quality reinforcements need to be made.
“We’ve kept a core of the Aces team. We have Shu-Aib Walters. Centre of defence has been an issue. Up front we have [Sibusiso] Masina, Judas Moseamedi, Aubrey Ngoma, Bhongolethu Jayiya – these are all guys that were playing in the past season,” Tinkler tells KickOff.com.
“We managed to secure those guys now it’s about building on that. We have 14 players right now and we are looking at [signing] another ten.”
Tinkler also adds that he is not a fan of having big squads and would prefer to keep the number of players around the 24-mark.
“I try to keep it as small as possible but you need at least two of the same quality in each position,” he concludes.
The former Bafana Bafana midfielder has already invited former Pirates striker Lennox Bacela for an assessment in a bid to bolster his striking department.
