The Chilli Boys are sounding out the 33-year-old, who has won a record six PSL titles and boasts vast experience.
"Every club in the PSL would like to associate with a person of Daine Klate's stature," says Chippa CEO Lukhanyo Mzizi.
"It will all depend on what the player's demands are and what the club can afford."
Klate is from Port Elizabeth and United are hoping to bring the player back home.
"I know last season when we spoke his wish was to retire in Port Elizabeth. Obviously Wits exercised his option," Mzizi adds.
"Now he is a free man and his family is in Port Elizabeth."
