Khuzwayo, who has been linked with a move to Orlando Pirates, has decided against renewing his expiring contract with Chiefs due to limited game-time.

The 28-year-old largely provided cover to Bafana Bafana number one Khune at Naturena, having having only played 37 matches in six years with the Soweto giants.

Khuzwayo's frustration was evident for some time, as he bemoaned his lack of opportunities on Twitter at the end of the 2016/17 season - prompting a meeting with Amakhosi's management.`

"The meeting did happen," Khuzwayo confirmed in an interview with Gagasi FM Extra Time in Durban.

"They called me. There was a tweet I sent. I forgot most of it, but it said, 'No matter how hard you can work but if you are not in the picture frame you'll never be noticed'.

"So I was very emotional at that time. I knew even if I put in so much effort, when you are not in the picture, you'll never play - no matter how hard you are trying. It's the same as with a lady. That lady can be the prettiest but she's not pretty in your eyes; another person will see the pretty side of her.

"So that meeting happened. They said I was not supposed to go to social media because they were preparing me a new contract right now so that I could sign. So I told them all I want was fairness; the fairness of competition. 'Okay, at least give me cups and my fellow colleague [Khune], with all respect, plays in the league games'. Because cup [games] comes once in a month.

"So I was willing to get that challenge just to showcase what I can bring; that was my plea to them. And then they spoke whatever it was and they said we'll see what happens.

"I could see that it wasn't going to happen; that it is not going to happen in the next three to four years. So sometimes you've got to be realistic in life and say, 'No, no, no, even with much effort I can put in going to this lady, I will never get her.

"You go back to the reality of life. No matter how much you can dream, you have to get to grips with the reality of life and say, 'here there's no bread, what am I going to eat?' That is life."
