"The trial was good and it was a good experience for me," Mhango tells KickOff.com.
"Everything went well, but they just said that they will call me back. It's not about me not liking the team, it's about getting games there. We need to play games."
The 26-year-old, who has fallen out of favour at Wits this season and will see his contract with the club expire in June 2019, has previously been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.
Asked if he will push for a switch to Chiefs in January if he doesn't join Vitoria, the Malawian says: "As for me I don't know about that. For me it's all about playing games. I don't mind them. What I'm saying is for me it is all about playing games - that's all what matters for me, to play games soon. Of course as a player I miss playing games. I am under contract at Wits, so now I cannot talk about leaving or going out."
Mhango has featured once for the Clever Boys in 2018/19, having scored twice and provided as many assists in 21 league appearances last term.
