Benson Mhlongo back in charge

Transfer News

Mhlongo will steer the side against Ubuntu Cape Town at Kabokweni Stadium in Mpumalanga on Saturday.

Sporting spokesperson Mthobisi Thobela says Mhlongo was previously on leave to attend to personal matters and dismissed reports suggesting the former Orlando Pirates assistant coach was on the way out.

"Benson is back. He was allowed to go home to sort out his personal stuff," Thobela said.

"He was never fired and I think the media was fabricating the story."

Mhlongo joined the second-tier club in July after a two-year spell in the Bucs dugout, having also represented the Soweto giants as a player.

Sporting, who are seventh on the NFD table with eight points from five games, are still awaiting the work permit of Swazi defender Sanele Mkhweli.
