Both players started training with Baroka earlier this month after arriving as free agents.
Mungomeni last played for Moroka Swallows in the First Division last season, while Mabuya was last on the books of Royal Eagles during the first half of this season.
“They featured in the friendly match against BidVest Wits on Monday and left immediately afterwards after a decision was reached that there will be no reason to bring them on board at this moment in time. They are both good players but with the situation that the club is faced with at the moment they are not what is needed,” says a source.
Mungomeni has been going through the battles of reviving his career having also failed to land a deal at Highlands Park, with his situation complicated by a knee injury he suffered two years ago.
For Mabuya, since breaking into the PSL at Bloemfontein Celtic he hasn’t found much joy in topflight football with spells at Golden Arrows and Orlando Pirates yielding little to no game-time.
