Jali, who turns 28 today, recently announced that he is returning home next season to be close to his family.
The Bafana Bafana midfielder is expected to sign for either Mamelodi Sundowns or his former club Orlando Pirates in the coming weeks.
According to a source close to Jali's representatives, Genk made an effort to snare Jali's signature after he turned down an offer to renew his contract with Oostende.
"There are two teams in Belgium, including Genk, that have shown interest in Andile Jali," says the informant.
"However, he has made up his mind and is coming back home next season."
Jali is two weeks away from resuming training as he makes his way back from a knee injury.
