“Ajax Cape Town are delighted to announce the signing of Fagrie Lakay,” read a statement on the club’s website.
“The 20-year-old has officially joined the Urban Warriors on loan from fellow Absa Premiership club SuperSport United for the remainder of the 2017-18 season.”
As reported earlier by KickOff.com, Ajax had been keeping close tabs on the young striker, who has finally put pen to paper with the Urban Warriors.
The 20-year-old, who has just made one domestic cup appearance for SuperSport all season, is well-known for becoming the youngest ever Bafana Bafana player when he was introduced into a game against Ivory Coast aged 17 years, 5 months and 30 days.
Lakay becomes Ajax’s fourth acquisition of the transfer window following the arrivals of Muzi Thabotha, Tendai Ndoro and Gerald Takwara.
Ajax kick-off 2018 with a clash against Maritzburg United on Friday evening at Cape Town Stadium.
