Marques met with the Dube Birds management this afternoon and officially tendered his resignation letter.

"I have left the club," Marques tells KickOff.com.

"The results were no longer forthcoming and I was no longer enjoying my job. I believe Fani Madida will lead the team for the game against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday," he adds.

Swallows fans have endured five straight defeats, their last one 2-3 at home to Mpumalanga Black Aces on Saturday, and have been calling for club CEO Leon Prins to also step down.

Meanwhile, former Swallows coach Gordon Igesund has defended Prins and says the chairman is doing a very good job in the circumstances.
