Tuks add to Swallows’ misery

Premiership

Swallows, captained by veteran defender Shere Lekgothoane, were under pressure from Tuks in the early stages of the match, but kept things tight at the back after conceding eight goals to Celtic in their previous match.

But the in the 25th minute Swallows defender Manqoba Khumalo failed to clear a cross and headed the ball straight into the path of Lucky Mathonsi, who curled it into the back of the net.

On the stroke of halftime Sphelele Luthuli missed a glorious chance after catching the Swallows defence napping. Thandokuhle Mabuza played in a perfect cross, only for him to miskick the ball with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Swallows tried to claw their way back into the match in the second half, but are thwarted by the solid Tuks defence.

Midway through the second half Karabo Rampai failed to level matters when he came one-on-one with Tuks goalie Lebohang Ngubeni but, instead of picking a spot, he shot straight at the last man.

In the 90th minute Swallows conceded a free-kick on the edge of the box, allowing Sphelele Luthuli to curl the freekick home for a comfortable win.
