Bobby begged to sign 'Chiefs' Busquets'

Bobby Motaung has been given a strong recommendation on who he should consider signing before closing Kaizer Chiefs' cheque book.

The log leaders have been very quiet when it comes to beefing up the team in the current transfer window, bringing in only defensive midfielder Anthony Akumu from Zesco United.

However, despite Chiefs' lofty position in the league, former Amakhosi midfielder Tshepo Molatedi believes Ernst Middendorp's team would really shine if Bloemfontein Celtic star Lantshene Phalane were pulling the strings in midfield.

In December last year the 30-year-old put to bed rumours linking him with a January move to Naturena when he penned a new three-year deal with Celtic, but Molatedi feels that shouldn't stop Chiefs from signing a quality player as everything's got its price.

"I love this left-footed boy from Celtic, Phalane. If I had money, he is the one I would go for," Molatedi tells

"He wears number eight. I like the way he controls the midfield. His play is like [Sergio] Busquets from Barcelona. He is controlling the midfield so nicely. He can make other players play. That's what I like about him," he explains.

"Because I think [Willard] Katsande is more defensive so sometimes he doesn't help us when we attack. He just stays back. That boy [Phalane] he can defend, he can be a playmaker as well... he can make other players play.

"Whenever we are off form he can help the team to gel. Those ones [Anthony Akumu] I've never seen them play. This boy [Phalane] I've been following his games, I like the way he plays.

"So the others I've never seen them play. Maybe if they can be given a chance, ja maybe I will comment positively [laughs]. Not to say I criticise them, but I've never seen them play. My wish is Phalane.

"Eish, that boy, eish! He can distribute, he can defend, he can be a playmaker as well. He is a complete player for me. If I was a coach I would love to have him in my team.

"That's why I'm saying he's like Busquets... Busquets when Barcelona are down he's the one making these Messi's and these Suarez's play. He is the one who feeds them with balls."
