Segolela was a crowd favourite during his time with the Sea Robbers when the club was challenging for the top honours, including the CAF Champions League.

Pirates have used three coaches this season including Milutin Sredojevic and Rhulani Mokwena and were fourth when the Absa Premiership was suspended.

The Buccaneers have shown a glimpses of a team that can challenge for trophies under the guidance of Zinnbauer but Segolela believes it is too soon for them to think about any championship.

"They are showing signs of returning to their best but I can't really say they are there or not. Remember, for a team to do well they must understand the coach's philosophy.

'Sox' believes for Pirates to start challenging for trophies, especially the league, they will need more time and he urges supporters to be easy on the German coach.

"That can take time, so for me it's too early to judge," he adds. "He must be given time to implement his plans and for players to respond to that, then we can start judging them."
