Tinkler is fresh off claiming MTN8 honours on the weekend following SuperSport's 4-2 victory on penalties over Cape Town City at Moses Mabhida Stadium.
The ex-Bafana Bafana midfielder also guided Cape Town City to the Telkom Knockout trophy last season.
Tinkler previously steered the Sea Robbers to the finals of the CAF Confederation Cup and Nedbank Cup, but it was not enough for him to retain his job after a year in the hotseat at Mayfair.
However, he takes pride in his stint with the Soweto giants.
"I don't think about that, I think about the job I have. Back then I managed to get to two cup finals. Unfortunately when you reach finals someone is going to be a loser and you know you don't want to be on the losing side," said Tinkler.
"But I hold a lot of pride in what I've done at Orlando Pirates and that kept me motivated to continue doing what I'm doing.
"Obviously for me to start at SuperSport and start with an MTN8 win, it's a fantastic start. But with the type of person I am I want more.
"We got another massive game coming up on the weekend in the CAF Confederation Cup and we want to get into that final. I've explained that to the players."
United will battle Tunisian side Club Africain this coming Saturday for a spot in the Confederation Cup final. The teams drew the first leg 1-1 in Tshwane.
