Sundowns fail to match Chiefs

The Brazilians needed to avoid defeat at Lucas Moripe Stadium to match the 19-game unbeaten run that Chiefs produced last season as they comfortably cruised to the League title.

Sundowns had gone 18 League games since they last tasted defeat in September last year when they were felled by Golden Arrows in Durban.

Actually, they were without defeat in 23 games in all competitions in domestic football before the Celtic upset.

Chiefs, however, still hold the longest ever unbeaten sequence in the League (31 matches) – which stretched over two seasons (15/1/05-29/10/05).
