Downs, Tuks eyeing Amajita captain

This comes after he went awol from the club before the end of the season finished, but it’s believed that the player went up to Johannesburg in pursuit of a new club.

Magqwaka was punished for his actions and didn’t feature in the recent Metropolitan Under-19 Cup early in April and was also subsequently dropped from the team that is currently touring the Netherlands for the Copa Amsterdam Cup.

The Amajita captain was promoted to the first team at the beginning of the year but failed to make any appearances and was frustrated with the lack of game-time.

Now it's understood a number of PSL club scouts including those from Mamelodi Sundowns have been keeping a close eye on the youngster and were watching him during Amajita's 1-0 win over Ethiopia.

Last year it was also reported that Magqwaka was on the radar of University of Pretoria and the club is still believed to be keen on him.

Despite all this, Ajax Cape Town are adamant that the Gugulethu-born player will remain at the club next season.
