Lekoelea: Why Shabba’s still clubless

Orlando Pirates legend Steve 'Chippa' Lekoelea has revealed why he thinks former Bafana Bafana star Siphiwe Tshabalala is still without a club this season.

The ex-Kaizer Chiefs star is still without a club after dumping Turkish side BB Erzurumspor at the beginning of the 2019/20 season.

"I think it's the issue of contracts and salaries, things like that, but as for him he is a good player and he's still fit because I attended his tournament in Phiri," Lekoelea tells KickOff.com.

"I saw him and [Reneilwe] Letsholonyane playing. I saw that Siphiwe can still play for big teams.

"The problem I think, it's those things of signing-on fees and salaries. The contract is what makes him to wait a bit. A quality player like Siphiwe will never struggle to get a team here in Mzansi.

"Maybe they are waiting for a chance to get another team somewhere because I know his agent Jazzman [Mahlakgane] is a genius guy. He won't rush things, I know him. He will wait for the right time and get what he wants.

"I know Siphiwe is training where he is, he is not one of those players who like nice times, who don't sleep, and as a professional player he knows the youngsters are looking up to him, watching how he lives his life. I think he is a professional player. He will never do wrong things.

"What I'm saying is, this guy can still play in the PSL for the big teams because he is from overseas where he gained more experience. I think he is more clever now, more than before.

"Siphiwe is a good player, he scored good goals you see. That's why I'm saying Jazzman, there is something he is waiting on."
