Free State Stars have appointed former Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Innocent Mayoyo as their new head coach.

Mayoyo's move to Stars comes after departing Polokwane City a few months ago due to differences with the Polokwane City club hierarchy.

The former Bucs goalkeeper was previously linked with a move to Uthongathi FC before deciding to join Ea Lla Koto.

"Yes, Mayoyo is our new coach," the official reveals to Kickoff.com

"There are no major changes except the issue of the head coach.

"Duncan Lechesa is still part of the team and has assumed the role of assistant coach."
