Jele: Derby is always special

Pirates face Amakhosi in the Premiership at FNB Stadium this afternoon, but a bigger assignment awaits next month when they contest CAF honours with seven-time continental champions Al Ahly across two legs.

"We will not be undermining the fixture against Chiefs simply because we have qualified for the final of the Champions League," Jele told his club's official website.

"Yes, the match against Al Ahly is the more important match in the greater scheme of things however, playing a Soweto Derby will always be special.

"It’s about the pride of the supporters and making sure they have something to boast about."

The right-back added: "It is a serious match for everyone involved directly or indirectly. As players we know that this match needs our maximum focus and respect.

"A win on Saturday will go a long way in strengthening our cause in the league and also for maintaining our momentum leading to the Al Ahly match.”
