Chiefs confirmed Lebese’s departure on Thursday after a nine-year stay at Naturena.
In his time with Amakhosi, Lebese won all the domestic trophies and is now looking to achieve even more with his new club Sundowns, who are in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals.
Sundowns are now in a race against time to make sure Lebese is registered for the Champions League before tomorrow’s deadline.
“With regards to George, I would be happy to see him playing and doing what he loves, which is football. He is one of the best players in the team and I always say to him that ‘you are the best, you are even better than me, just believe in yourself’,” Shabba tells KickOff.com.
“George in every season will give you goals. He is that type of winger that is deadly in the box and he has a good right foot. So he is a quality player.
“I wish him well. That’s the nature of football; players come and go. The same happened with Yeye [Reneilwe Letsholonyane]. He told me way before that this is the situation and I gave him my honest advice.
"It’s the same with George, I had a chat with him and I also gave him my honest advice. I told him football is his calling and if he feels he wants to leave and he feels it’s the right time, then it’s fine ‘let it be your decision’.”
