Cape Town City have moved swiftly to secure the services of one of their key players on a new four-year contract.

The Citizens have handed midfielder Shane Roberts a contract extension that will see him remain in the Cape until at least June 2024.

The 22-year-old has enjoyed a steady rise at the Mother City outfit, having been promoted to the first team back in 2017/18 and making five appearances in each of his first two seasons.

However, in 2019/20, Roberts managed to win over coach Jan Olde Riekerink and enjoyed 17 appearances between November last year and the end of the 2019/20 season in September.

The club is also expected to welcome the return of former winger Aubrey Ngoma, who is believed to be in the middle of a tug of war with Premiership newcomers Swallows FC.

Other than this, John Comitis' side have been relatively quiet in the market this year, despite finishing in sixth position on the log table last season.
