Shocking new twist in Meyiwa case

Family of slain former Bafana Bafana and Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Senzo Meyiwa has warned that they will be turning to lobby group AfriForum to bring his killers to book.

Sifiso Meyiwa, brother of Senzo, and their cousin Siyabonga Miya addressed media on Friday to provide an update on where they stand with the case.

Sifiso cleared the air surrounding the investigation conducted by the South Afrcian Police Service, insisting the problem lies not in the investigation but in the prosecution team.

“There’s no problem with the SAPS, they have done everything [they could]. The problem is with the NPA [National Prosecuting Authority],” said Meyiwa’s brother.

“We are calling on the president and the Minister of Police to intervene and find out why they can't prosecute this case or else AfriForum will take over. And I have contacted them, and they are willing to help. They are not playing. People will be arrested."

Meanwhile, Miya also revealed new information in relation to the alleged events that took place in his then-girlfriend Kelly Khumalo's house in Vosloorus, where Meyiwa was shot and killed.

“[South Gauteng director of public prosecutions] Andrew Chauke said to me on record – we have the recording and his statement corresponds with another recording of his deputy JJ du Toit – they are convinced there was no one who entered the house. The shooter was inside the house.”

Official arrests have yet to be made in relation to the case, which was opened five years ago.
