SAFA supports PSL resumption


SAFA president Danny Jordaan is delighted there is finally a restart date for the PSL season and says the Association is in full support.

After Monday's board of governors meeting PSL chairman Irvin Khoza announced that PSL football will resume in Gauteng on 8 August, starting with the Nedbank Cup semi-finals.

"I would like to thank the NSL chairman and the entire board of governors for helping put this matter to rest," said Jordaan in a statement from SAFA.

"We will now witness the ultimate and fair conclusion to the current and unique season and I am sure the football-loving fans can’t wait for football to resume again.

"The match officials are getting into peak fitness and come 8 August, it will be all systems go."

SAFA have been working with the PSL to find common ground on all logistics regarding Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship matches for months, and have finally reached a resolution.

Referees have already checked in at a Sandton hotel to continue FIFA-guided fitness and safety checks ahead of the season's resumption.
