"We are painfully aware that we are gathered to say our farewell to Senzo,” Jordaan said. “His life has been taken in the most cruel and violent way.
Jordaan said that what had made Meyiwa special was that the player was "in tune with himself".
"Somewhere in our society the value of human life is being challenged," he said.
Jordaan said that he was praying for Meyiwa's father, Samuel, in the hope that his heart would be healed after the loss of his son.
"The entire football family is poorer as we say farewell to Senzo," he said.
