Orlando Pirates coach Rhulani Mokwena has revealed how an unlikely source within the camp gave him goosebumps ahead of the big game against Kaizer Chiefs.
Mokwena has been humbled by the amount of support he is receiving from his players as they try to navigate through a difficult period.
The young head coach registered his third win in the league this season as Pirates beat Highlands Park 1-0 at Makhulong Stadium on Tuesday.
It came right on time as the Buccaneers' next game is against Kaizer Chiefs in the Telkom Knockout at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday (15h00).
This is going to be Mokwena's first Soweto Derby as head coach and he has already received encouraging words from one of his players, Asevela Mbekile.
"It's amazing how a player like Asavela Mbekile, who has not featured much this season, has the wisdom and humility to come to the coach and say 'coach keep going and we are right behind you'," said Mokwena.
"In his own words he said 'whatever this period is preparing you for is something big'. It gave me a spring in my step. I was really humbled by Asavela Mbekile's words."
Meanwhile, Mokwena has confirmed that Pirates have a clean bill of health heading into the Chiefs clash.
Thembinkosi Lorch is expected to return to the team after he was protected from a possible suspension against Highlands. He is sitting on three yellow cards.
