Rama - Chiefs want CAF return

READ: Khune could return against Arrows

Chiefs, who are currently fourth on the table, will face Golden Arrows, Polokwane City, Platinum Stars and Bidvest Wits in their last four games in the Premiership.

The first obstacle towards potentially securing a Champions League spot for Amakhosi will start on Saturday when they host Arrows at FNB Stadium at 20h15.

South Africa has two spots allocated to them by CAF in the Champions League to the winners of the league and the runners-up.

“You never know what might happen... and obviously we want to go back to the Champions League next season. So we will give it everything we have, we will play well against Arrows, Platinum, Wits and other teams that are remaining,” says Mphahlele.

“If we don’t win the league it's fine… [and if] we make the Champions League it's good for the squad and we will go and compete. So, all I can say is that the last four games are very important and very crucial for us so that we finish there with the top clubs.”

Mphahlele adds that they are disappointed they didn’t win any cup [MTN8, Telkom Knockout and Nedbank Cup] this season.

“Look in football you win and sometimes you lose and you don’t win trophies. But like I said the most important thing is for the team to work very hard.

“We are disappointed that we didn’t win a trophy, but like I mention when you are playing for Kaizer Chiefs you are expected to win and there is no excuses because there’s players, there’s facilities, there’s everything that you need to win the league or a cup.

“And if it doesn’t happen… guess what? Next season we go again. We work hard and I tell you we will win something. We will win a cup, we will win a league; so we have to work hard as a team and keep pushing because if you give up in football you are in the wrong business,” concludes Mphahlele.
