Palmer targets Chippa promotion

He takes over the reins four games into the season following the departure of Mark Harrison to Golden Arrows, and will start his Chilli Boys tenure against Roses United on Friday night.

"We want to win the league and go back to the PSL," Palmer tells

"With the quality that we have here I feel that all this is achievable.

"The good thing is that what the club wants in gaining promotion to the PSL is what I also want because I want to be coaching in the PSL so what better way than to lead the team up the ladder myself.

"This is a job that will require all of us at the club to pull together and I am glad the club is doing just that."

The former Orlando Pirates striker has impressed during his managerial stints in the National First Division over the past seven years.

Palmer laid the foundation towards taking FC AK and African Warriors to the play-offs; he won promotion at Maritzburg United, while he guided Santos to the play-offs last season after missing out on outright promotion by just two goals, having finished level on points with Polokwane City.

"When you are with a first division club the target must always be promotion or at least the play-offs because that is still a chance of gaining promotion," Palmer concludes.
