Bucs found guilty of misconduct

Pirates supporters stormed the pitch during Mamelodi Sundowns' 6-0 drubbing of the Buccaneers in February, with the PSL having finally charged the club.

A statement released by the league on Thursday indicated that Pirates had been found guilty of contravening 'Rule 54 of the NSL Handbook', which relates to misconduct.

"The League had charged Orlando Pirates with contravening Rule 54 of the NSL Handbook (Rules) following acts of hooliganism by a section of supporters during the Absa Premiership fixture between Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates on 11 February 2017 where some fans invaded the pitch," read the statement.

"The PSL Disciplinary Committee found Orlando Pirates guilty. The DC will reconvened (sic) next year to impose sanction on the member club."

Indications are that Sundowns could also be sanctioned when the PSL DC reconvenes next year.
