The former Mamelodi Sundowns striker was released by Kaizer Chiefs with a year left on his contract and is now on the hunt for a new club.
The former Bafana Bafana frontman trained with University of Pretoria last month, but failed to secure a deal with the Capital club.
After now joining Kosta Papic’s men in training, a club source has revealed that a decision regarding Mphela’s involvements in their plans going forward will be made on Monday.
"Katlego Mphela trained with Polokwane City [on Saturday], and I'm told that his camp have submitted a proposal to the club and Monday is the D-Day," the source told KickOff.com.
"They want to sign him, although the deal depends on both parties agreeing terms."
Mphela, 30, managed just four League appearances in Chiefs’ title-winning run last season.
