Straight to team bus for under-fire coach

One of the PSL coaches reportedly in danger of losing his job went straight to the team bus after his side's latest defeat, neglecting his media duties.

Polokwane City coach Zlatko Krmpotic could not hide his disappointment after conceding late to give Golden Arrows a 2-1 win at Sugar Ray Zulu Stadium.

The Serbian went straight to the team bus after the match and did not do interviews with the media, which is something he has done before when his team have lost.

Krmpotic did not engage with Steve Komphela after the match either, but the Golden Arrows showed his class by saying he understood the situation.

Komphela – who has shown support to most of the coaches who are under pressure from Cavin Johnson at AmaZulu to Rhulani Mokwena and Benni McCarthy more recently – felt sorry for Krmpotic, who might be the next coach to lose his job.

"He didn't want to talk to me and understandably so. It's not that he didn't want to but I can feel the anger and frustration, I would've felt the same," Komphela said.

Komphela felt his side lacked that killer punch to finish off the match and believes they could have buried City in the first half.

"I thought we could've won the game in the first half, 3-0, where we needed to bury the match but we are too nice," he added.

"We can't put the knife on the throat and just slice it, they come back and a last-minute goal saved us."
