Pitso won’t pay R7m for Faty

Zungu is leaving the Brazilians at the end of the season to link up with Portuguese side Vitoria Guimaraes, with Faty reported to be the man stepping in to fill the void at Chloorkop.

“That’s not really true,” Mosimane says in the March edition of KICK OFF magazine. “Papy Faty is contracted to Wits and if want to buy we will have to spend R7-million and we are not going to do that. Those days are gone.”

Sundowns are known as a big-spending club, but in the last three transfer windows that has all changed. Mosimane adds that “ever since we changed that programme we have seen the results”.

“But there are players we need to strengthen our team – that is not a secret – but unfortunately they are contracted to other teams, so we can’t get them.

“We have to wait for their contracts finish, and some have two years to go. And to buy locally for us is not going to be easy because the market is very expensive. We will rather go to South America and get players like Leo Castro.”
