Pitso: Trophy can stay at Milpark

Wits' thoughts of defending the championship have fallen away to concerns of survival as Gavin Hunt's side prop up the standings midway through the campaign with 11 points from 14 games.

Sundowns, who surrendered the title to Wits last term, are contrastingly six points clear at the summit heading into their final match of 2017 against Cape Town City at Loftus Versfeld tonight (19h30).

“Let the trophy stay at Milpark for now,” said Mosimane, whose side thumped Bloemfontein Celtic 4-1 on Saturday for their fourth straight win.

“When there is time for anybody to claim it, it will be the time. Not yet... but we are en-route to do that. We are striving for that.”

The Brazilians have matches in hand on everyone save for SuperSport United owing to the Tshwane clubs' exploits in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively.

Mosimane added: “What's important is what Percy [Tau] said, that we need to win our games in hand. We dealt with  that one midweek, that was a game in hand. No one was playing but us and SuperSport United. We need to clear those ones but if we clear them with a win then it is okay, that's important. Those games in hand are not won. We got rid of one, I think we still have two more coming in January.”
