The Bafana Bafana international signed from Ajax Cape Town at the start of the season, but is yet to make his bow for Masandawana as he continues his recovery on a foot injury.
Indications are that ‘Riva’ could be out for the rest of the season, and although Mosimane refused to give a proposed date of the centre-back’s return, he did not seem perturbed by the star youngster’s absence.
“Rivaldo is still in the doctor’s ward hey, in the hospital ward, so we are waiting – we have to wait,” he said. “He must get well and we don’t stress him. We don’t have to have him to play now, we are okay.
“We have [Motjeka] Madisha, we have Ricardo [Nascimento], we have Wayne Arendse, we have got Bangaly Soumahoro who is coming probably in five days. So, we don’t need to put Rivaldo under stress.”
Mosimane re-iterated his thinking of bringing in new players to Chloorkop for the future, insisting the signatures of all his recruits are planned for well in advance.
“We sign [players] a year before – we sign one year ahead,” Mosimane said. “The players we wanted‚ we wanted them last year‚ and you know [who they are]. Aubrey is not that player we wanted right now, am I right?
“Rivaldo, we didn’t bring him to win the league for us. We brought him to go beyond because he is young.
“You’ve got to understand, Ricardo is not very young, he is 30, Wayne Arendse should be going to 31, so you got to manage that and there are centre-backs who are very experienced like Thabo Nthethe but are above 30, so we are bring in players to replace [them].”
