Pitso comments on Onyango blunder

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has come to the defence of his number one goalkeeper after his blunder cost the team on Sunday.

Denis Onyango was beaten by what seems to be a harmless shot from Danny Phiri as Arrows won 3-2 at a very wet Sugar Ray Xulu Stadium.

However, Mosimane was understanding after the match because of the soaked pitch in Durban and says they know how they lost three points.

"We know how we lost to be honest," Mosimane said.

"I hope Denis mentally can recover from that because normally the bounce should bounce in front of the goalkeeper, but because of the conditions the bounce couldn't favour him."

Mosimane says Onyango is allowed to make mistakes because he's human too and it wouldn't be fair to crucify him for one mistake, especially for a player who has saved the team on many occasions.

"If you remember and follow our team there's always a mistake he commits once a year, but how many times does he save us?" the Sundowns coach reminded.

"He's number one in Africa, he's been number one for the last three to four years. Number one can still make mistakes.

"We've seen goalkeepers makes mistakes so we need to budget for that and he will come and help us again. We won't be emotional with Denis."
