Orlando Pirates have confirmed the shock departure of one of their star players on transfer deadline day.
Pirates have released midfielder Musa Nyatama from his contract, which was due to expire at the end of the season.
The 32-year-old joined The Buccaneers from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2017 and made over 70 appearances for the club, including seven this season.
He also bagged the Player and Player's Player of the Season gong at the club's awards in his first season, during which he managed 32 appearances in the heart of Milutin Sredojevic's midfield.
"Musa who had his contract ending at the end of this season, had a meeting with management earlier today, whereby he requested to be released from his existing contract," said Pirates in a statement.
"Management has acceded to his request. Musa has been exemplary on and off the field and we would like to thank him for his contribution and professionalism he displayed during his tenure. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors."
