Bucs trio ruled out of Wits clash

Pirates are set to visit The Clever Boys at the Bidvest Stadium this afternoon (15h00), with three players having been ruled out through injury.

Team physiotherapist John Williams confirmed to the club’s official communication channels that midfielders Vincent Pule and Xola Mlambo, as well as defender Caio Marcelo will all miss out with an assortment of niggles.

Some positive news, however, is that Wayne Sandilands and Luvuyo Memela, who were both forced off in the second half of Monday’s goalless draw with Mamelodi Sundowns, have been included in the matchday squad.

Meanwhile, Davids believes today’s top-of-the-table encounter will require a completely different approach to the one from earlier this week and emphasises the importance of all their remaining games.

“After a tough game against Sundowns, we had to regroup and tactically prepare for this game, which, compared to Sundowns, is a completely different game, with a different playing style, so we’ll need to adapt and use our strengths to exploit them,” said Davids.

“Any game at this stage of the season, all remaining six are important, but we have to take it one game at a time, put our all into this Wits game and then move on to next match.”
