Double blow for Pirates

Premiership

Pirates are set to welcome Leopards to the Orlando Stadium in the only domestic fixture on the calendar in midweek, as they look to move ahead in the Absa Premiership title race.

The Buccaneers are currently top of the log standings, and could go three points clear over second-placed Mamelodi Sundowns, who will then have two matches in hand.

However, they will have to try and overcome Lidoda Duvha without the services of defender Alfred Ndengane and striker Augustine Mulenga, who are both serving a one-match ban after accumulating four yellow cards.

On the bright side, Milutin Sredojevic will welcome talisman and club leading scorer Thembinkosi Lorch from his one-match suspension served against Bidvest Wits, while midfield duo Xola Mlambo and Vincent Pule could return from injury.

“Xola Mlambo and Pule are on their way back, we are expecting them back as soon as possible because any team would need quality players back,” said Micho.

“So, we are waiting for them to come and join us. We shall do the full assessment and put them in a competitive aspect – we are using friendly matches as a test, try and experiment approach before putting them into a competitive match.

“So, Tuesday will exactly answer us whether they will be in contention for the next match [on Wednesday].”

Kick-off of tomorrow night's encounter is scheduled for 19h30.
