Pirates face Dikwena for Maize Cup

Premiership

Pirates are smarting from a 2-0 defeat to Soweto rivals Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday

However, Bucs have a chance to restore morale in the Dr Hage Geingob Cup in Namibia this weekend, as well as when they meet Maize Cup holders Stars in another pre-season contest at Moruleng Stadium on August 13.

Kick-off is at 15h00 and tickets go on sale tomorrow at Computicket (R30 for adults, R10 for U-12s).

Dikwena won the inaugural edition of the event - which also featured Bloemfontein Celtic and Botswana's Township Rollers, by beating Mpumalanga Black Aces 1-0 in the final in July 2015.

Organisers say the tournament was reduced to two teams after the sale of Aces' topflight status to Cape Town City.

"The format from the former Maize Triangle to the Maize Cup was necessitated by the fact that Mpumalanga no longer have a team in the PSL."
