Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has sung the praises of midfielder Thembinkosi Lorch and believes he has been head and shoulders above the rest this season.
Lorch has been nominated in three of the top categories at this year’s PSL Awards and has earned the plaudits and respect of his coach, who has since advocated for him as the best player in the country this season.
Though he was unable to vote for a player from his own club, Sredojevic shared a special tribute for the 25-year-old following Saturday’s final match of the season, in which he was also named Man of the Match for scoring a brace.
“‘Nyoso’ has throughout the season really been a role model and leading by example in each and every match, giving his best,” said Micho.
“Sometimes we were left wondering where he gets all the energy with the body that he has, but he’s what I want to call an atomic ant.
“He’s a person who has really shown to everyone – with all due respect to other players, there are several of them and I have no right to mention names in order not to miss anyone – that if anything is to be put on the table then he is our best player of the season, and I also believe in South African football at present.
“With sincere appreciation to him and his teammates for each moment of their efforts, it has been a real honour, pleasure and special privilege coaching these wonderful boys.
“We believe everyone has improved, but the steps of seven miles that Thembinkosi Lorch took this season has really shown that he is going into the right direction.
“I really wish that he also continues from this platform this season in times ahead of us.”
