Middendorp expects Celtic adjustment

Celtic needed a late own goal from Roger da Costa to salvage a point on Tuesday after Lerato Manzini's opener was eclipsed by a brace from Swallows veteran Siyabonga Nomvethe at Free State Stadium.

"We did not really go into gear number five and six but with a new coach coming in that is understandable," Middendorp told his club's official website.

"I am quite happy with the way the team worked as a unit in attack and defence. There was not one moment where we really got outplayed or were overly exposed with regard to positioning."

The German has swapped jobs with Clinton Larsen, who is now in charge of Maritzburg United.

Regarding his first impressions of Celtic, Middendorp said:"The reasons for the change in my coaching direction to Celtic were about the resources, infrastructure, training facilities, club management, support structures and club’s passionate supporters.

"My reasons have been fully confirmed in the past few days. I am absolutely enjoying my time here. Getting to the training ground early in the morning is enjoyable and this environment is very fulfilling."
